Water quality eutrophication has become a worldwide environmental problem in recent years, and assessment and classification of scenic water bodies will help for prevention and remediation of water eutrophication. The study presents the application of combination technique of fuzzy cluster and grey cluster, to classify and evaluate scenic water bodies in Shanghai. The results showed that the scenic water bodies can be grouped into five clusters, and Yanzhong Greenbelt is the least polluted region and lowest water quality eutrophication, and Liwa River is the highest level of eutrophication, followed by Shanghai Zoological Garden in Shanghai. This combination method of fuzzy cluster and grey cluster has been proven effective in dealing with complex nonlinear systems containing uncertainties, such as scenic water bodies systems, and it is particularly useful technique for assessment and classification of water quality eutrophication in scenic water bodies.
