Enhancing Wind Turbine's Performance Using Fuzzy Pitch and Torque Controllers

摘要

The main objective of the wind turbine is to capture the maximum power from wind. It is possible to increase the efficiency of the system and alleviate the aerodynamic loads on wind turbine by using intelligent controllers. However, the control system plays an important role in increasing the turbine' efficiency and lowering the power generation' costs. This paper introduces an advanced control system based on fuzzy logic for a wind turbine with double-fed induction generator. The control system structure includes two fuzzy controllers to adjust rotor speed and maintain power at a desired level regardless of wind velocity variations. The fuzzy controller is capable of compensating the pitch angle's nonlinear characteristics. Simulation results show that the fuzzy controller can maintain the wind turbine in existence of noises and different wind speeds while maintaining safe operating conditions and better performances.
