Currently, almost all pig farms in South Korea generate slurry type pig manure. BOD, Total-nitrogen and Total-phosphorus concentrations of the pig manure slurry were about 30,000 mg/L, 5,000 mg/L and 1,000 mg/L, respectively. In Korea, environmental regulations are being strengthened, especially in the case of waste water treatment of livestock manure. Therefore, this study was carried out with the aim of developing a process for improving the efficiency of pig manure slurry waste water treatment. To reduce the BOD, nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations in the pig manure slurry simultaneously, the pure oxygen, the media package and the micro bubble were applied to the aeration reactor. As a result of supplying pure oxygen containing 95% oxygen to the aeration reactor, it was possible to maintain the dissolved oxygen concentration more than three times higher than that of the control aeration reactor supplied with general air. When the media package was installed in the aeration reactor, the nitrogen concentration reduction effect was improved. The reduction effect of BOD, nitrogen and phosphorus in the reactor supplied with micro bubble was increased by about 9%, 4% and 3%, respectively, compared to that of the control reactor equipped with general type diffuser.
