A behavioral model, based on Finite Elements and Partial Differential Eduation, of a impedance-based measurement system for assessing the drug released under the skin transdermal delivery is proposed. The model simulates: (i) the measurement system, based on Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy, (ii) the measurand, namely the drug delivered under the skin, as well as (iii) the system under test, namely the skin, by three parallel, homogeneous, and consecutive layers (adipose tissue, viable skin, and stratum corneum). In this paper, first the equations and the architecture of the model are described. Then, the results of the numerical characterization and the preliminary experimental validation are reported, by referring to a case study of transdermal delivery for cosmetology applications.
