In this paper, a simple and inexpensive method of preparing carbon-based nanomaterials via Co-based catalyst has been demonstrated. It was shown by various optical and structural characterization that well-graphitized carbon nano-sphere can be prepared using the proposed process. Through the data extracted from Raman spectra, it was found that the as-deposited samples showed much lower Id/Ig than previously reported candle-synthesized carbon nanomaterials. Furthermore, under optimized condition, it was found that low resistivity sample can be produced which could be potentially useful in applications as counter electrode in dye sensitize solar cells.
