摘要

In February 2012, a new baking furnace was commissioned atBoyne Smelters Limited (BSL) on Boyne Island, Australia. Thisnew furnace replaced the production of two existing closed typefurnaces and set new benchmarks in production performance.The advanced firing technology is based on latest safetyrequirements of the Australian Gas Authority (AGA) gasstandards. In parallel, new self-recovery network structuresbehind the wireless network have been developed to maximize theredundancy and availability of the system. Finally, intelligentcontrol modules have been implemented for on-line optimizationof the baking process.This paper will outline the special technologies used anddemonstrate the results that can be achieved to allow for smarterand cleaner baking cycles in combination with relevant safetystandards and system availability.
