Throughput Analysis for WPT Networks Over Two-Way Log-Normal Fading Channels

A three time slot design is proposed in a wireless power transfer (WPT) network, in which two source nodes transmit information to each other via an energy constrained relay node over two-way log-normal fading channels. In the first two time slots, two source nodes send the information signals to the relay node one by one. For simplicity, for two source nodes, the relay node uses the same power splitting factor to split the received signals into two portions, one is used for energy harvesting (EH) and the other is used for decoding information. In the third time slot, adopting amplify-and-forward (AF) scheme or decode-and-forward (DF) scheme, the relay node retransmits the reconstructed signal to the two source nodes. The analytical expressions of both the successful probability and throughput of the system for the two schemes are derived. To obtain more insights, using the Gaussian-Chebyshev quadrature, the approximate analytical results for the successful probability are derived. Numerical results show the performance comparison of two schemes as well as the impacts of several key parameters on the system performance. Moreover, the performance of the proposed model is compared to the counterpart with a multiplicative relaying.
