Electricity capacity growth is not as fast as electricity demand. Energy conservation scenarios need to be prioritized and promoted while finding renewable resources are still progressing. The Indonesian government has set a long-term target to reduce annual electricity consumption by 1% until 2025. Previous research has shown a decrease in electrical energy consumption by using real-time feedback. This study proposes a configuration of real-time electricity monitoring and controlling system through a user's smartphone. The users will get a notification and information about the status of electrical/electronics equipment that has been wasted and encourage them to take any necessary actions to manage it. The proposed system gives the smartphone users access to understand and to control their behavior in using energy. The study starts by identifying the electricity users and observing their behavior in consuming electricity in public buildings. Then, a configuration system to monitor and control the energy used is created, and a test to simulate and validate the system is done. The result shows that the monitoring system works well under designed circumstances. Improvement needed for expanded conditions.
