Results relating to code construction on a tower of function fieldsmeeting the Drinfeld-Vladut bound

A convenient set of functions is identified whose span includesall functions in a tower of function fields of Garcia and Stichtenoth(see Journal of Number Theory, vol.61, no.2, p.248-73, 1996) that havepoles only at the place at infinity.
