`Turbo' coding for deep space applications

摘要

The performance of the `turbo' coding scheme is measured and anerror floor is discovered. These residual errors are corrected with anouter BCH code. The complexity of the system is discussed, and for lowdata rates a realizable system operating at E_b/N₀below 0.2 dB is presented
