This paper presents the experimental investigations into skineffect influences on current distortion and increase in loss for 20 kHzPWM-VSI-fed slotless PMSM drives. At first, the relation between thecurrent distortion and the skin effect of lamination steels caused byhigh frequency component of flux is examined. Secondly, the relationbetween the increase in loss and the skin effect of coils caused by highfrequency component of current is investigated. Finally, the machinedesign aspects of reducing the current distortion and the associatedlosses are examined
