Research on teamwork-based organization environment and enterprisecultures for concurrent engineering

In order to maintain competitiveness in global markets,manufacturing organizations must reconsider current organizationaldesigns. Team concepts, teamwork-based organization environment andenterprise cultures for concurrent engineering (CE) are studied as asolution to this need. In this paper the characteristics and definitionsof the team are presented. A teamwork-based culture within amanufacturing setting is suggested. Moreover, the management andorganization of multi-functional teams working under CE conditions aredescribed for short lead-time product development cycles. The strategyfor support the organization and structuring of project developmentteams is proposed. Finally, the teamwork system is discussed for CEsupporting environment
