For the harmonic analysis of AC/DC power systems coupled bythyristor converters, a novel method is proposed in this paper, i.e.,the switching points sampling (SPS) method. Only recording the samplingdata at switching points, merely computing the harmonics of two currentequations, the harmonics of the integrated power system containing ACand DC sides can be obtained. The suggested method has the advantages ofless memory capacity needed, fast computation and high accuracy. It isvery useful and effective in estimating harmonic sources, predicting theharmonic flow and propagation and researching harmonics suppression.According to the number of sampling points and the sampling length, theSPS method can be divided into the twelve points or twenty-four pointssampling method and the periodic sampling method. The computing resultsare in good agreement with measurement results
