This paper presents a novel type of voltage-fed quasi-loadresonant half-bridge IGBT inverter operating at constant frequencyvariable power regulation scheme which is more suitable and acceptablefor new high-frequency high-power induction-heated (IH) cookingappliances in domestic and business uses. This application-specifichigh-frequency inverter using a new generation specially-designed IGBTscan be efficiently operated under the principle of ZVS-PWM controlstrategy. The operating principle of a new inverter circuit is presentedtogether with its power regulation characteristics on the basis of itscomputer simulation analysis and experimental results. The steady-statecharacteristics of the cost effective quasi-resonant inverter developedfor high-frequency IH cooking appliances, such as IH rice cooker/warmerand IH hot water heater, are discussed from a practical point of view
