摘要

Introduces a next-generation public traffic information systemwhich facilitates the WWW (World Wide Web) to provide users with easieraccess and use. The proposed system is composed of three subsystems: aclient/server interface, a knowledge-based path search system and atraffic data storage system. The user interface utilizes the Javalanguage to furnish users with multimedia data accessibility andinteractivity. The path search system produces optimal solutions basedon dynamic traffic data, while previous search systems were limited tousing static traffic data such as bus/subway route information. Thestorage system is designed to give the search system more efficientaccess to the traffic information. The consisting subsystems areinterconnected on the WWW using CGI (Common Gateway Interface). A clientrequests the server to search a path, and the server asks the searchsystem (through CGI) to get a result from the database and returns it tothe client. The system can be extended to an integrated navigationsystem which includes a variety of information on the Internet as wellas traffic information
