A new generalized springs and dampers element developed inMSC/NASTRAN is described in this paper. The development of this elementwill enable the capability of MSC/NASTRAN to model frequency dependentor material nonlinear springs and dampers for general structuralanalysis efficiently. It is expected that this generalized springs anddampers element, named BUSH element, will allow for a wide variety ofapplications which span the linearonlinear static, direct/modalfrequency response, linearonlinear transient, and optimizationanalyses. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate theconvenience and generality of the present element
