Correction of hyperopia requires increasing the curvature of the cornea. Radio frequency current can be used to shrink corneal collagen at peripheral points and achieve the required correction. A commercial device has been introduced by Refractec Inc. to create the RF lesions in a process named "Conductive Keratoplasty". Finite difference method numerical models of the electric and current density fields, thermal fields, and resulting damage fields have been created and used to establish the fundamental mechanisms of this process.
