This paper presents the results of a survey conducted byRAFAEL-`hazards of electromagnetic radiation to personnel (HERP)' in thevicinity of sectorial radio relay stations (SRRS) operated by cellulartelephone carriers in Israel. The major conclusions of the HERP surveyare: the power densities in the vicinity of the SRRS were found to bebelow the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA) generalpublic permissible exposure limits (PEL). Typical radiation levels wereless than 10% of the IRPA PEL. At some of the sites the total powerdensity as measured with a broadband radiation monitor exceeded 0.5-1mW/cm2 (PEL at 890 MHz=0.44 mW/cm2). A narrowbandmeasurement that was performed using antennas and a spectrum analyzerwas necessary for extracting the exact radiation spectra of the SRRSwhich never exceeded 5%-10% of IRPA PEL
