A lumped parameter thermal model for a permanent-split-capacitorsingle-phase induction motor (PSCSPIM) has been developed. The thermalmodel is, in part, dependent upon the accurate allocation of iron losseswithin the machine. Using the temperature time technique a more accurateloss distribution within the machine was determined. The results fromthe model are validated against those measured at strategic locationswithin the machine
