Limitations on the performance of very thick volume reflectiongratings

The authors present an analysis of the trade-offs for theproduction of volume reflection gratings. The main object of theinvestigation is the production of narrow-band reflection filters,position tuneable over the 1200-1600 nm range for optical fibre systemsapplications. Results showing a very good performance, close totheoretical predictions, for 100 micron thick films, results for 500micron thick films are presented and analysed
