The manufacture of blazed oblique zone plates for use at 10.6 μm

The authors have demonstrated that it is possible to produceblazed zone plates with high efficiency, good focal properties andunusual geometries and which are suitable for use in the 10 μmspectral region. The method of plotting the pattern of zones on a greyscale phototypesetter and photoreducing into resist proved to be simpleand straightforward for the present application. its virtue is itssimplicity and, assuming that one has access to a phototypesetter, itslow cost. The present work has demonstrated that it is suitable for theproduction of zone plates to steer and focus CO₂ laser beams
