In broadband networks based on asynchronous transfer mode (ATM),continuous-bit-rate (CBR) traffic from fixed-rate voice, video orcircuit emulation is characterized by virtual circuits with almostperiodic cell arrivals. The infinite buffer ensemble queue-lengthdistribution for each ATM switch output port carrying CBR traffic at asingle rate is exactly calculated with the use of a recursioncomputation method that is all alternative to other known approaches.From the infinite buffer queue-length statistic calculated, bounds onthe cell loss probability in a finite buffer system, the cell starvationprobability for circuit play-out with finite build-out delay, and thecircuit disruption probability due to buffer overflow or cell starvationare derived. It is shown that this recursion computation method can bereadily extended to the multiserver case
