Correct estimation of peritoneal fluid volume is the prerequisiteto control the infusion and the removal of dialysate solution into andfrom the peritoneal cavity during peritoneal dialysis. A new approachusing segmental bioimpedance measurements, a special placement ofelectrodes, and a correction for inhomogeneous distribution of currentconsiderably improved the estimation of peritoneal fluid volume in 11studies with two subsequent peritoneal fluid exchanges
