The properties of the oxide films formed onnon-charged and hydrogen-charged 308L claddingstainless steel in deaerated pressurized water reactor(PWR) primary water at 290 °C were investigated. Theoxide films were mainly composed of the Fe-rich outeroxide layer and the Cr-rich inner oxide layer.Ni-enrichment at the oxide/ferrite and oxide/austeniteinterfaces was observed. The content of Ni at theinterface of ferrite matrix/oxide was higher than that atthe austenite matrix/oxide interface in both unchargedand hydrogen charged specimen. Charged hydrogenreduced the general corrosion resistance of 308L SScladding layer. In uncharged specimen, the corrosionresistance of the ferrite is higher than that of theaustenite. In hydrogen-charged specimen, locallyaccelerated oxidation of ferrite was observed with athicker oxide on the ferrite than that on the austenite.
