SCC OF ALLOY 82 WELD METAL

Following extensive incidents of SCC in Alloy 182weld metal, an increasing incidence of SCC growth inAlloy 82 occurred, along with incidents of SCC initiationin Alloy 82. This study evaluates the effect of Alloy 82weld type and heat, post-weld heat treatment, corrosionpotential, 0 - 30 ppb sulfate, and 20 – 80 Mpa√m stressintensity factor on the SCC growth rate of Alloy 82 weldmetal in 288°C water using 1T and 2T CT specimens withan emphasis on achieving high levels of IG engagementalong the crack front.
