Thermal radiative transfer (TRT) phenomenon is important in such applications as highenergydensity physics, inertial confinement fusion, astrophysics etc. This class of problemsis characterised by strong coupling of multiphysics equations. This paper describesnew nonlinear iterative methods with multiple energy grids for the basic TRT model consistingof the time-dependent multigroup radiative transfer equations and the materialenergy balance equation. All terms in the equations are approximated implicitly in timeincluding opacities. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate convergence of theproposed iterative multigrid algorithms in TRT problems with large number of groups.
