In order to effectively evaluate the performance of the cruise shiplifesaving system, this paper proposes a method of performanceevaluation for cruise ship lifesaving system based on the failuremode and effect analysis (FMEA). This method first adopts the fuzzyset theory to set up the various failure modes, and then it adopts thegrey relational theory to calculate the grey degree of relation betweenthe failure modes, which is used to determine the risk priority of thefailure modes. Afterward, priorities for further corrective actions willbe given to the recognized FMs with a higher grey relational degreein order to ensure the safety performance of the cruise lifesavingsystem to meet requirements. Finally, a case study is carried out todemonstrate the proposed approach, and the results verify that theperformance evaluation of the cruise ship lifesaving system based onFMEA can be effective and feasible, and the results will helpimprove the safety performance of cruise ship lifesaving system.
