Battery technology is one of the key factors constraining the development of hybrid electric drive system used in All Electric Combat Vehicles (AECV). At present, single energy storage source is very difficult to meet the requirements for both energy and power in AECV. By adopting hybrid energy structure, existing technology can make full use of the advantages of multiple energy and thus enhance the performance of hybrid energy. According to the characteristics of Ni-MH battery and ultra-capacitor, a strategy was proposed which combines thermostat control with filter control and based on it the simulation analysis was performed. The results showed that the charging and discharging processes of Ni-MH battery had been optimized considerably and the power of hybrid energy was improved enormously.
