A computerized numerical database on electrical, thermal,mechanical, degradation and other properties of electrical insulatingmaterials for overhead and underground electric power transmission anddistribution has been developed. The database is continuously updatedand upgraded following new developments in insulating materials fortransmission and distribution systems. As a central source of technicaland applications data on electrical insulating materials directlyaccessible online, this database is a valuable tool in developing,designing, and manufacturing insulating systems for electric utilityequipment. The database is interactive, menu-driven, and user-friendly.It permits the direct mode of search/retrieval of data for specifiedmaterials, properties, and independent variables, and the inverted modeof search/retrieval of qualified materials that meet a set of specifiedproperty requirements (which is the computer-aided materials selection).It also enables units conversion, variable transformation, andinteractive graphical display and manipulation of the retrieved data.The methodology for data compilation, evaluation, analysis, andcorrelation and the database development, content, and operation arepresented and discussed
