Conditions for temperature measurements in nonequilibrium flowsusing O2 laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) are presented. Acomputer model of the LIF process was developed and used to identifypairs of ro-vibronic transitions originating from a single vibrationallevel and spectrally isolated from ro-vibronic transitions from adjacentvibrational states. ArF lasers, KrF lasers, and anti-Stokes shifted ArFlasers were considered as excitation sources. It was found that the ArFlaser can be used for rotational temperature measurement when thevibrational temperature is below 750 K. KrF lasers are suitable forrotational temperature measurement when the vibrational temperature isabove 750 K
