This paper is based on the new grounding chapter in the thirdedition of On-Site Power Generation: A Reference Book. It applies to lowvoltage power systems rated 600 volts and less, and explains types ofgrounding, fault protection, code requirements, and appropriatesolutions, The interrelationship of grounding, ground-fault sensing andtransfer switching is discussed.
