New single-receiver/single-transmitter/single node structures fortwo-connected multihop transparent optical packet-switching networkswith deflection routing are introduced. A ShuffleNet topology in uniformtraffic is adopted to compare various shared optical memory schemes andtheir control algorithms. These simple structures minimize the number ofcrossbar switches needed or the node and have moderate controlcomplexity, while still yielding high throughput and low delay.Analytical results are obtained by an extension of the existing theoryand verified by simulation
