On the spectrum efficiency of a cellular system based onmulti-receiver, multiple access (MRMA)

Considers a cellular system architecture based on Multi-ReceiverMultiple Access (MRMA). The upper and lower bounds on the spectrumefficiency of this architecture are calculated and compared with theefficiency of existing cellular systems. In some cases, a MRMA-basedsystem is shown to have a higher potential capacity, nearly double thatof existing systems, but at the cost of higher complexity. Previous workhas shown these systems to be well suited for data traffic and work isunderway to determine the suitability of such systems for voice andintegrated voice/data traffic
