A four-channel CT2-based fibre-radio system has been demonstratedas a practical technique for interconnecting radio DPs (distributionpoints) and switching centres to facilitate the provision of a cordlessaccess service. The system delivered a dynamic range of 51 dB, which isappropriate for a mobile range of 150 m. The advantages of a fibre-radiosystem include reduced complexity and size of the radio DP,capacity/resource sharing and simplification of installation andmaintenance procedures. Techniques for further improving the performanceof the fibre-radio system are highlighted together with options fornetworking cordless access with other services
