Present manufacturing technology is unable to manufacture a usefultantalum capacitor below the size of 0805. This paper reviews abreakthrough in manufacturing methodology which for the first timeallows a 0603 (1.52×0.76 mm) capacitor to be manufactured withhigh volumetric efficiency and low equivalent series resistance (ESR).4.7 μF capacitors in the 0603 case size are now in production
