Cross-talk and shielding effectiveness measurements were conductedto (1) provide baseline cross-talk and shielding effectiveness data, (2)evaluate various ROI design options, and (3) define future efforts aimedat quantifying the ROI design process from its current qualitative(engineering judgment) approach. ROI wiring systems have proven to havehigher reliability and improved maintainability compared to randomwiring harnesses. Cross-talk and shielding effectiveness measurementsindicate that no degradation in EMC/V (electromagnetic compatibility orvulnerability) performance should occur when ROI wiring systems are usedin place of random wiring harnesses. Because wire geometry is fixed, across-talk simulation program that provides accurate cross-talkpredictions can be developed. In addition, shielding effectivenessshould be predictable
