The new International Terminal will be a major landmark in Londonand it is important that a secure electrical power supply isincorporated. For this reason the power supply system of the WaterlooInternational was designed with two independent 11 kV high voltagesupplies. The primary (nonessential) supply is derived from LondonElectricity plc (LE plc) and the traction (essential) supply derivedfrom British Rail (BR) Electrification. The total maximum demand ofWaterloo International is approximately 3.1 MVA on the LE plc primary HVsupply network and 2.2 MVA on the BR traction HV supply network underessential conditions. The author describes how the LE plc supply isprovided through three feeders to provide a 7 MVA total capacity supply. One feeder is connected direct to the zone substation and the other twoare connected to the distribution network. The 7 MVA load can bemaintained with the loss of any one feeder
