A sophisticated version of the ferrite head is the composite head.This component has several characteristics that are needed in arecording head. The design, fabrication and the application of thecomposite head are reviewed. The author discusses how miniature coilwinding techniques have provided reliability and longevity to a criticalcomponent in disk drive technology
