The Frequency Assignment is a very important task in the planning of the GSM networks, and it still continues to be a critical task for current (and future) mobile communication operators. In this work we present a hybrid Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm to solve a real-world instance of the Frequency Assignment problem. We present a detailed explanation about the hybridization method applied to DE in order to make it more efficient. The results that are shown use accurate interference information. That information was also adopted by other researchers and it represents a real GSM network, granting, therefore, an extremely important applicability. Furthermore, we have analyzed and compared our approach with other algorithms, obtaining good results.
