Abstract: Software and image processing techniques have beendeveloped which make use of a real-time digital disk tocapture video frames at video rates and which alloweither the transfer of these data to standard speeddisk drives or to conduct analysis directly from thereal-time digital disk. This capability can beextremely useful in a number of applications which havetheir original data in a video format. An overview ofthis general capability, along with three specificapplication examples are presented here. !3
