This paper documents continuing activities associated with the extension of the HPCMP CREATE™-AV Kestrel computational fluid dynamics software toward thermochemical generality. Previous publications3'4 document the extension of Kestrel to general equations of state, including those associated with equilibrium chemistry, and to multi-species, possibly mixing, but not reacting flows. Some simulations of air vehicles, ground-test facilities, and propulsion systems require chemical reactions. The focus of this publication is flows in chemical non-equilibrium and thermal equilibrium, where the thermodynamic properties and chemical reaction rates are characterized by a single temperature.
