Open VProxy: Low Cost Squid Proxy Based Teleworking Environment with OpenVPN Encrypted Tunnels to Provide Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability

OpenVProxy is a teleworking environment designed to be implemented in different computer network environments, be used in the existing network infrastructure in organizations, without modifying it, and without making a shocking economic investment; in this way, the members of the organization will be able to work remotely in a secure manner, complying with the requirements of the CIA triad: confidentiality, integrity and availability. All this thanks to encrypted tunnels to form the virtual private network implemented by OpenVPN and access to partner and third-party services provided by a Squid Proxy that can also play the role of firewall, these functional components implemented on a cloud server. The teleworking environment also provides scalability and redundancy because the increase in the number of users and organizations is constant, for this, the number of servers will be increased without affecting the existing servers and the redundancy that establishes two tunnels at the same time for a client was developed. Clients use a profile generated by the OpenVPN server so that they can create an encrypted tunnel, then all clients form a virtual private network and they can use the services of the organization as if they were geographically in the same place, this configuration also allows the use of any external service or application without affecting the security of the organization. This environment works for IPv6 and IPv4, with a great advantage that OpenVPN traverses NAT. The annual cost of the service including administration and maintenance is about $996 USD.
