This paper deals with the modeling, design and control of non-isolated power factor corrected Zeta converter for dimmable LED lights operating in Discontinuous Conduction Mode. The simplest, cheapest and appealable dimming concept is implemented to achieve power quality improvement under universal AC mains voltages. The dimming using light dependent resistor based on sensing of ambient light is implemented. A Zeta converter topology is used due to the advantages such as buck-boost capability and non-inverting output voltage. The modeling, design and control of Zeta converter for dimmable LED lights of 27 W is carried out using MATLAB/Simulink software for the wide change in input AC voltage. The constant lamp voltage, current and power are achieved at different percentage of dimming conditions using the voltage control strategy.
