Comparative Cost and Benefit Analysis of TCal and Classical Calibration

The concept of Touchless Calibration (TCal), comprising the idea of calibration of measurement equipment in own premises/laboratories instead of sending the instrument far away in a calibration laboratory, is as much attractive as challenging job. TCal leads to reduction of time and costs of the manufacturing companies with acceptable level of quality loss in the calibration. The lower cost is one of the most important benefits of TCal, compared to traditional calibration, and it is subject of analysis in this paper. Following the main request of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017, the risk assessment analysis based on FMEA, is conducted for the purposes of the savings. Calibration is requested in all industries, however, the focus of this contribution is restricted to industrial calibrations of measurement instruments for electric quantities.
