In view of the problem of insufficient accuracy of traditional cellular automata in simulating traffic flow, STCA is improved from the aspects of cell definition and evolution rules, and a cellular automaton with unfixed length cell is proposed. The proposed cellular automaton can accurately simulate the vehicle geometry size and axle distribution on the bridge and generate reasonable simulated traffic flow. In this paper, the traffic load effect analysis of 200 m span virtual simply supported beam is carried out by using unfixed length cellular automaton, and the results are compared with those of STCA. The results show that the accuracy of the proposed cellular automaton is higher.
