This work describes an implementation of a Wireless Sensor Network-based system for real-time remote monitoring of photovoltaic (PV) panel. This proposed system consists on three parts: (a) sensor node, which contains five sensors, namely: ambient temperature, relative humidity, panel temperature, that has been calibrated in a certified laboratory, as well as a wind and light sensors. (b) The base station that transmits the aggregation data from sensor node to the user interface, and (c) the user interface application performed with LabVIEW. The wireless communication between the base station and the sensor node was ensured by a low cost, efficient, and low power consumption transceiver. The measurements obtained from the PV panel were transmitted using a new customize hybrid transmission mode that combines (a) the temporal mode (b) the request mode, and (c) the event mode. The proposed system successfully provides real-time monitoring of the PV panel to follow-up and failure diagnosis.
