Pressure-Sensitive Paint (PSP) has been used in aerodynamic measurements as an optical pressure sensor. The PSP dynamic response needs to be characterized in terms of a response time and a frequency response. Each characterization has been individually used, and a correlation between the two has not been modeled. In this paper, an analytical model for the PSP dynamic response is proposed combining the luminescence distribution inside the PSP layer and the diffusion equation. The proposed model describes the PSP dynamic responses to the response time and frequency response, with a key parameter to connect the two. The shock tube and resonance tube tests were performed and validate the proposed PSP response model.
