An original way of computer-aided analysis and optimization of a microwave-photonics-based super-wide bandwidth transceiver for a high-resolution linear-frequency modulated continuous-wave inverse synthetic aperture radar is proposed and demonstrated using well-known off-the-shelf microwave-electronic software tool Cadence AWRDE. To substantiate the approach, the transceiver models in the monostatic and bistatic versions are presented in the form of a set of earlier developed nonlinear electrical equivalent circuits for active optoelectronic units. Based on them, the results of simulation experiments and confirming them experimental research of a transceiver with an instantaneous bandwidth of 5 GHz in the operating range 5.5–10.5 GHz are highlighted.
