Real-life Application of the Emission Monitoring System by Using a Drone

A steady and rapid increase of a total number of the harmful pollutants leads to the environment and atmosphere concerns. The main emission emitting sources are the cars, factories, power plants as well cookers and gas heaters inside homes, and many others. This is an important contemporary issue that causes a global warming as well as the people health problems on different levels. Thus, the monitoring systems have to be developed and implemented in order to monitor the sources of these harmful emissions (certain gases) and to identify the air quality. This paper deals with an application of the simplified emission monitoring system by using a drone as a carrying tool. The proposed system has a drone side and user side electric circuits ensuring data transmission exchange between them. The implementation process of the prototype design is described in details by considering hardware and software system's parts. Moreover, an analysis of the testing results is presented for both outdoor and indoor monitoring as well as local and remote based on four selected locations. This solution provides a flexible, reliable, user-friendly, and cheap system for the monitoring of the particular gases such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide.
