The paper presents the implementation aspects of a visual inspection system dedicated as part of the advanced control in Flat Glass Manufacturing Industry. The system has to identify and to provide a measurement of the mechanical no-uniformity of the glass ribbon before the cutting process in order to maximize the output of the manufacturing process. The necessity of developing the presented system is pointed out by being imposed for achieving an advance automation level. The image processing techniques and algorithms used have to provide results with a high reliability even in conditions of a very large variety of the types of image distortions necessary to be identified. The development of the proposed visual inspection system is coming with the approach of modified Hough transform technique for processing the images and is obtaining a high robustness of the results.
